As we head into the holiday season, Xbox gamers are being treated to a way to claim bonus free store credit until early December. The best part? You really don't need to do that much to claim it.

There are plenty of great Xbox games available so far this year, and now we have the option to earn double Microsoft Rewards points for the next week or so. Those rewards points can, of course, be used to pick up an Xbox gift card for yourself or a loved one for Christmas.

Double Microsoft Rewards Points Available Now

You really don't have long, though

A new promotion is available now over on Microsoft Rewards that will give you the chance to double any points earned through Bing searches, as spotted over on the Microsoft Rewards subreddit. You can do this via PC, mobile, or even your Xbox's built-in Microsoft Edge browser.

If you're keen, you need to actually be signed up to Microsoft Rewards (obviously). Once you've done that, it's as simple as heading to the Rewards dashboard and hitting the button that says "activate now."

According to Microsoft, this is a limited-time offer that is only available until December 3.

"During the promotion period, the daily search cap has doubled, limits will vary by market. Points awarded per search are based on your current Rewards member level. To qualify, the member must activate this offer on the Rewards dashboard, Rewards email, or other advertisement placements. Microsoft reserves the right to modify or cancel this offer at any time. Markets excluded from this promotion are: India, Columbia, New Zealand, and Mexico."

While the concept of double points is exciting, not everyone is convinced it's a good thing.

"If I search every 30 minutes as they want me to, it already takes 7 hours to get 250 points," one Reddit user notes. "I can't imagine spending 14 hours a day on this. I'm not complaining about the opportunity, but I don't think there's a realistic way to follow their rules and earn these points."

What Are Microsoft Rewards Points Worth?

You can get some neat stuff

Microsoft Rewards points can be used for tons of stuff. You can grab vouchers, store credit for games like Roblox and Overwatch, and even Xbox store credit and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions.

It's worth noting, however, that some of these items do cost a ton of points, so you need to make sure you're saving up and taking advantage of events like these double rewards periods.

If we look at a $5 Xbox Gift Card, for example, that's 6,200 points. I stress again, that's not an amount you can quickly earn in a day! If you keep at it and do a little bit every day, though, you'll find eventually you've accumulated a ton of points without really thinking about it. And that's where the fun and satisfaction of picking up an Xbox game for basically free comes in.
